SHE was stunned when a friend called her to say she'd heard her divorce had been finalised and that her ex had married again.
Claudia Henkel shook her head in disbelief. Even though the former Miss South Africa had left her husband, Orin Roesstorff, more than three years ago, a court had yet to issue the divorce decree and the department of home affairs still considered them legally married.
But how was it possible then that Orin had tied the knot while he was still married to her, her friend asked. Hadn't she seen the pictures on social media?
Claudia (39) felt humiliated when she saw the photos of Orin and his partner, Chloe Frampton, in what looked like a romantic shoot from a bridal magazine.
In one of the snaps shared on Instagram, Chloe wears a white gown with a matching veil while holding Orin's hand.
In her other hand she clutches a spray of white orchids and roses. Her figure-hugging dress was apparently the creation of Johannesburg-based designer Vesselina Pentcheva, whose wedding gowns come with price tags of up to R55 000.
Another photo sees the couple walking through a line of women dressed in identical grey-blue dresses who are showering them with confetti.
"It broke me when I saw these pictures pictures that were shared in public, Claudia tells YOU.
The former beauty queen and her ex split in 2019 after four years together. Six months later, Orin (38) and Chloe (29) went public as a couple.
However, they claim through their lawyer that they aren't married yet. The occasion at Cape Town's prestigious Zeitz Mocaa art museum, where the pictures were taken in December, was just a "commitment ceremony", Johann van Eeden says, adding an actual wedding while Orin is still married to someone else wouldn't be legally binding.
But judging from the pics, it's easy to understand Claudia's confusion.
