SHE didn’t sing any new songs, her outfit and performance were tame by her usual standards and she wasn’t even paid for doing the gig.
Yet, in less than 15 minutes, Rihanna showed just why she’s one of the world’s savviest businesswomen with her Super Bowl halftime show performance.
RiRi had more on her mind than trilling out a tune at the widely watched sporting spectacle. She promoted her beauty and lingerie brands when she blotted her face delicately with makeup from her Fenty Beauty line halfway through her 13-minute mini concert.
Her dancers were all decked out in items from her Savage X Fenty line and the company later sent out a text encouraging fans to buy all the looks inspired by the performance.
Sales of her music soared when six of her songs entered the iTunes chart, and searches for her Fenty Beauty brand surged by a whopping 833%.
And, of course, there was the casual pregnancy reveal that ensured she’d be the talk of the town for weeks.
The 35-year-old Grammy winner, who welcomed a son with rapper A$AP Rocky (34) in May last year, debuted her new baby bump in a red-hot designer jumpsuit while floating on a platform suspended above the stage, effortlessly belting out a medley of her greatest hits.
Rihanna may have begun her career as a singer, but in just under two decades she’s reinvented herself as an actress and businesswoman and become a billionaire in the process.
