HE LOOKS like he hasn’t used a razor in his life but don’t let his youthful appearance deceive you: t h e Baby-Faced Assassin, as he’s been called, is rapidly becoming one of the top talents in the English Premier League.
Phil Foden played a crucial role in Manchester City’s recent Premier League glory, scoring two goals in his club’s 3-1 win over West Ham United and helping City become the first team in history to secure four consecutive League titles.
His performance on the day wasn’t just a stroke of luck – this has been the best season of the 23-year-old’s career. He scored 17 goals and set up a further eight, directly contributing to 25 goals in 34 Premier League appearances – a feat that saw him being crowned the 2023/24 Premier League Player of the Season.
“To win this award is an achievement I’m extremely proud of,” he said. “The Premier League is acknowledged as the greatest league in the world and it’s a pleasure to have been nominated with so many other great players who’ve all enjoyed special seasons for their clubs.”
Phil’s fleet-footed skills have left observers in awe. “He’s the man to watch,” former City star Steve Howey says. “He’s in the form of his life. No player wants to play against him right now.”
Former Arsenal player Paul Dickov says Phil stepped up and filled the void left by teammate Kevin De Bruyne who was laid low by a groin injury. He rose to the occasion and contributed significantly to City’s winning streak, Dickov adds.
