DJ Angel aka Rajwender Kaur Johal On breaking stereotypical shackles

“Music is the universal language of mankind; I've always been drawn to music, and DJing helps me curate an immersive experience to connect with people through rhythm, melody, and vibration. While there's no denying that it is a male-dominated field, I seldom let societal norms dictate my choices. Back when I began, in 2007, female DJs were few and far between.

My journey has been challenging, to say the least...but when you bring something unique to the table, people respect your craft regardless of your gender. Each time I get behind the deck and connect with the crowd, it reinforces my belief that I have found my voice. My deep understanding of music and technical expertise set me apart, helping me curate soundscapes that resonate with the audience—add to that my official remixes for the film industry and international collaborations, both of which aid in honing my skills. To the young, aspiring female DJs out there, I'd say trust your talent and stay true to yourself and your sound...don't be afraid to push the envelope and experiment.”
