Jewellery Trends - TOP TRENDS INTERNATIONAL FINE JEWELLERS ARE EMBRACING

Global fine jewellery brands are leaving no stone unturned (pun intended) to create new styles and new trends – from gender-fluid jewellery to grunge-inspired collections, from religious iconography to motifs borrowed from marine life, from in-your-face bold pieces to minimalist jewellery, they are trying anything and everything. It all depends on what clicks and resonates with new-age customers. Here are some of the top trends that international fine jewellers are embracing.

Using rose gold

Resorting to the use of rose gold is a major trend among big names in the fine jewellery circuit. For instance, Boghossian, a family-owned Swiss firm with Armenian heritage, historically known for dealing in exceptional gemstones, has come out with a collection called Desert Rose.

In this collection, the focus is on 18k rose gold to create flower-like formations in the desert. These formations are created when water evaporates in a shallow salt basin, resulting in crystallized minerals embedded with grains of sand. The crystals are shaped into petal-like structures by the forces of rain, wind and pressure, resulting in unique and varied appearances for each one.

It is not as if rose gold has not been used before, but Boghossian is using it in a refreshing new way. The collection consists of earrings and a ring, each available in two sizes. Each piece is enhanced by diamonds, which appear in rows on the outer edges in small starlike formations, and in the centre in rose formations. The unique use of diamonds and the textured gold finish not only enhances the desert rose design, but also gives it a contemporary appeal.
