GRAZIA: Raw Mango campaigns always draw on the personality of the brand – how did this particular collaboration come about?

KIRAN RAO: It was my absolute privilege to collaborate with Raw Mango. I’ve been a longtime admirer of Sanjay’s work, I’ve proudly worn Raw Mango on international stages and wherever I’ve gone. Their campaigns are always so beautifully imagined that for me to be playing myself and wearing these wonderful clothes – it was honestly a great opportunity for me. It was great fun as well, because Sanjay himself interviewed me and we had a lot of fun shooting the campaign. It didn’t take me very long to say yes, and to have Raw Mango in my studio for a day.

G: What inspired the thought behind Sooti?

SANJAY GARG: Sooti is a type of person who prefers comfort and indigenous textiles. We’re a tropical country, and temperatures are touching almost 50 degrees. Sooti is basic in nature – cotton cools. It also manages to feel like the future of luxury and is a collection we revisit every summer.
