Honouring WOMEN OF FILM

Our inaugural BAZAAR Women Of The Year event was a celebration of screen sirens who tell stories through film, and imagemakers who create narratives through pictures.

The BAZAAR Women Of The Year cocktail party was the culmination of six months of planning and execution, so naturally a most glitzy affair was in order. Held on November 30th last year at a special space provided by Pavilion Kuala Lumpur-undoubtedly the country's premier fashion haven-our little soirée saw a meeting of film heavyweights with the movers and shakers of the fashion industry; actors, screenwriters and producers mingling with photographers, stylists and fashion darlings, coming together to celebrate the ten women we honour as the BAZAAR Women Of The Year 2022.

The BAZAAR Women Of The Year honour now replaces our previous annual portfolio, Malaysia's Most Stylish Women, as a step towards a more inclusive representation of the passions and accomplishments of women beyond the fashion that they wear.

So for the inaugural BAZAAR Women Of The Year, we chose to showcase filmmakers and storytellers whose very vocation it is to portray and embody Malaysian women through their art. Lauded for their talent and tenacity, grit and gumption, star power and influence, this cross-generational group of artists represent the very best of Malaysian cinema today.
