For those who aren’t aware, Tan was born and raised in the picturesque Kuantan fishing village of Sungai Ular. Her 2006 directorial debut, Love Conquers All, was a smashing success at prestigious film festivals throughout the world, captivating viewers and winning numerous accolades. Additionally, the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival Global Earl Awards nominated Tan’s 2021 film, Barbarian Invasion, for Best Picture, and in 2022, Just Because You Pressed the Shutter? was named the Jimei x Arles Discovery Award winner.
