A Balm For The Soul

As we navigate the complexities of modern life, the gamut of new-age healing practices may well be a much-needed panacea for our weary souls. Enigmatic and spiritual, many of these practices go beyond the material and touch the essence of our being.

Take, for instance, palmistry; the intricate lines and creases offer a glimpse into the secrets of our inner selves. In crystal healing, we harness the unique vibrations of gemstones and precious rocks to bring balance and harmony to our bodies and minds. And then there’s shadow work, often regarded as a transformative practice that distils confusion within the human psyche to enact change.

As legions seek to find their footing in the post-pandemic landscape, these new-age healing practices provide a means of empowerment and self-discovery. Though at their core, they hold a timeless wisdom: that we are all part of a greater whole, connected by the energy and forces that make up the universe.

Here, three Singaporean spiritual practitioners share how their craft is a balm for the soul.

THE PALM SEER

It’s not a novel phenomenon to gaze at the cosmos or dabble in mysticism to seek clarity on the unknown. The same can be said with our palms, which can be used as a medium to divine the future, find grounding and pursue closures. “There is a lot to show in our palms”, says Chang Ling Lin (@ling.the.palmist), the 29-year-old palmist who gave up her white-collared job to read palms in earnest.
