When Christmas and New Year come around, it is impossible to ignore three things: our home, the people, and the parties. Amid the holiday season, Filipinos are known to have their hosting and entertaining abilities on overdrive. After all, it is in our culture to open our humble abode to family, friends, and even neighbors, and serve them delicious food whenever there’s a celebration.
However, for a host, it can feel like all the responsibilities are on your shoulders. You have to make sure your space is presentable; you need to have enough food on the table to feed all your guests; and you need to act relaxed enough to enjoy the evening (which might be the hardest challenge of them all).
Leading a soiree can involve a fair amount of preparation. While we can’t remove all the work it requires, we did talk to the experts in the industry— from table scaping to mixology—to tell us how to curate an all-encompassing festive experience that both the host and guests will truly enjoy.
NATIVE TOUCH
While you’re painstakingly prepping the lechon and all those scrumptious sides, don’t forget to give the table your guests will sit at some love. After all, the dining table is where all your guests will probably spend most of their time, so it only makes sense to make it a visual feast.
