Geneva has given the world the answer to a question most collectors have asked, although perhaps not out loud: what is better than a perpetual calendar? Why an eternal one of course, except there was never such a thing. Thanks to the watchmakers at IWC, there is the next best thing: a secular calendar that requires no user-intervention till 3999. To backtrack a little, the perpetual calendar was the pinnacle of the date complication, and usually includes the moon phase indicator as what amounts to an afterthought. Well, the IWC Portugieser Eternal Calendar is now the apotheosis of the calendar complication, and the moon phase display is the most impressive bit. To be blunt about it, the Eternal Calendar is easily the most technically advanced watch of 2024, and the Internet agrees.
