A date to REMEMBER!

When King Charles leaves Westminster Abbey as the newly anointed monarch, his coronation on 6 May 2023 will be forever inscribed in the annals of British history. But, for the Royal Family, this date is also significant for several birthdays, anniversaries and deaths.

Birth of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, 2019

Who knows if King Charles was aware his coronation clashed with his grandson’s fourth birthday. Let’s face it, Charles has a lot on his to-do list and, in fairness, this clash did give Harry and Meghan an excuse not to be at the Abbey.

As we know, a lot has happened since the birth of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on 6 May 2019. Born at London’s private Portland Hospital, even the details surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first child were confusing at the time. That afternoon Buckingham Palace confirmed Meghan had gone into labour ‘in the early hours of the morning’. Another announcement, 20 minutes later, stated she had given birth at 5.26am. Meghan, Harry and baby Archie were already back home at Frogmore Cottage by the time the press had figured it out.

There was no posing outside the hospital, instead two days later Prince Harry and Meghan introduced Archie – now sixth in line of succession – at Windsor Castle. Later that day, the couple released the portrait of them with the late Queen and Prince Philip meeting their great-grandson, alongside Granny Doria Ragland.
