Queen Elizabeth's corgis
During her 96 years, Queen Elizabeth owned over 30 corgis, widely increasing their popularity across the UK. In fact, in 1944 when the Queen revealed she had been gifted a Pembroke corgi puppy named Susan (pictured) for her birthday, interest in the breed went up by 56%. Her late Majesty was also credited with breeding the 'dorgi' - a dachshund-corgi mix - after one of her corgis mated with her sister Princess Margaret's dachshund, Pipkin.
Sadly, Queen Elizabeth II's passing saw her leave behind two of her beloved corgis, Sandy and Muick - named after one of her favourite places, Loch Muick at Balmoral Castle - a dorgi named Candy, and Lissy, a four-year-old prize-winning cocker spaniel, who she welcomed in January 2022. It's believed that Prince Andrew, who bought his mother Sandy and Muick after the loss of Prince Philip in 2021, took them in.
Harry and Meghan's emotional support pets
Before she met Harry, Meghan rescued Guy, a beagle who had been just days away from being put down, and after the wedding moved him across the pond to live in Frogmore Cottage. Now back stateside in their Californian mansion, the Sussexes also own a black Labrador named Pula. They then added to their brood in 2022 by welcoming a seven-year-old beagle called Mamma Mia, also a rescue dog.
