The Old Woman in a Well

There was an old woman who lived in a well. But it was not always so. As a child, she had been playful, cheerful, spreading joy and happiness all around her. She would go out of her way to help anyone, and that, too, with a ready smile. Her parents and siblings knew they could count on her to be always there for them.

One day, however, something happened, something that the young child found difficult to cope with. It was not a big issue, but enough to disturb her.

Somehow, that changed her. She started collecting bricks and eventually, when she had enough, she constructed a circular structure and painstakingly started digging to build a well within. At first, it was a pastime. People came and appreciated her efforts.

"You're doing a good job, the area needs water, it will be good for all of us," and so on.
