Talk about the New Year and what invariably comes up are New Year's resolutions. We may have many, few or none but a new year is surely the time to reflect on the year that was and chart a course for the year ahead. So far, so good. Trouble brews when, in our enthusiasm, we set goals not only for ourselves but for those around us too.
"Your life could be so much better, why don't you..." and there we go, dispensing advice. "You have so many talents, why are you wasting them in...?" There we go, criticising someone's job or lifestyle. And the favorite - "You have so much going for you, how come you are single? Let me introduce you to...." Sounds familiar?
