You could be a member of a local club, a state-wide club, a regional club or even a national club. There were also clubs for collectors who specialized in tokens, medals and paper money - just about every specialty.
THE CATALYST FOR ONLINE
The typical member for many of these clubs was older and male. As time passed, the members got older and newer members were fewer and fewer. The need to meet in person began to wane.
The real catalyst for online activity occurred in 2020, with the pandemic. Coin club meetings and coin shows everywhere were canceled. People wondered what effect that would have on all of our hobbies. Would hobby trading wane? No.
Suddenly, people started switching their hobby interests to online opportunities. Coin and other hobby clubs sprang up like wildfire all over social media.
