Clean slate
A MODERN INTERPRETATION OF VICTORIAN CHARM PRODUCES A LUXURIOUS HAVEN AND NEW BEGINNING FOR THIS MELBOURNE HOMEOWNER.
The creative reinvention of an unused space allowed this grand old Victorian terrace in Melbourne’s inner suburbs to flourish. “The upstairs master suite was initially an awkward space, lacking storage and an ensuite,” says key project designer Charlotte McGill of Mim Design. “Led by our brief to create an open, connected space for the owners to indulge in, we converted the fourth bedroom into an expansive main ensuite, including a double shower, three-metre-long double vanity and stone bath.” The freestanding bath, paired with a Brodware floor-mounted bath spout, lends an elegant feel to the space, accentuated by the Brecciolino marble laid on the floors, splashback and vanity top. the airy ensuite is filled with natural light, a direct result of Charlotte’s reconfiguration of the upstairs space. “This house embodies more than just a contemporary renovation, it represents a fresh beginning for the owners,” says Charlotte. “The addition of a personal space embodied her new outlook for a lifestyle change, and the inclusion of the main ensuite encapsulated the brief in its entirety.”
