TINY ENTRIES
Better Homes & Gardens Australia|October 2022
A cramped drop zone can still boast abundant storage. Outfit a sliver of space with bins, hooks, shelves and slim furnishings to give your stuff a designated spot
TINY ENTRIES

Take advantage of every nook, cranny and available piece of vertical real estate to create opportunities for storage and organisation. These clutter-busting solutions are ideal for space-challenged entryways but can actually be used anywhere in your home. You can buy, make and hack boxes, shelves, tables and hangers to sort and store everything from your shoes to your mail. Get DIYing!

GET HOOKED

Create custom colourful shelves in no time. Mark the centreline of a 40cm diameter wood round, cut in half with a saw and sand cut edges. At 30mm from centre base of one semicircle, drill a hole for a peg hook. Apply PVA glue to top edge, position other semicircles on top so edges are flush and clamp until set. You can reinforce the joint by predrilling top piece to secure with screws, then fill holes with putty and sand. Screw in peg hook, apply several light coats of spray paint and let dry. Wall mount using heavy-duty sawtooth hangers. For wood wall hooks and sawtooth hangers, try amazon.com.au.

WITHIN REACH

Corral keys, sunglasses and other easy-to-lose items in a catchall dish on the shelf. The hook is ideal for lightweight jackets and hats.

ROUND IT OUT

Forgo a peg when building the shelf and hang it upside down, so it's for display rather than storage.
