PLAYING TO THE GALLERY

As the expansive wooden door opens, you would be forgiven if you mistook this for an art gallery somewhere in a bustling world city. But you are right here, in Kolhapur, an inland city in the Western State of Maharashtra. Home to Maruti and Dhanashree Bauskar along with their kids, Abhishek and Atharva, and Maruti’s father, it is quite the show home but with a soul. “When we first visited the site, we were in awe of the volume.

A 15,000 sqft home with a height of 30 ft in the living room and about 45 ft in the central atrium for a family of five, was both overwhelming and spellbinding,” shares Huzefa Rangwala, co-founder, MuseLAB, “Our approach was to adopt the shell and treat it like a museum; we wanted to ensure that from the time one enters the home, their experience of circulation through the home should enable them to chance upon objects, arts, installations and furniture pieces that would create a very heightened sensory experience,” he explains.
