HERE'S A FUN HOROLOGICAL FACT you can whip out when you're among like-minded enthusiasts - Girard-Perregaux was one of the founding brands that kick-started the wave of integrated bracelet steel sports timepieces. The watchmaker released the first Laureato in 1975, sandwiched in between the Royal Oak that came out three years before and the Nautilus in 1976. It was a dual-tone watch with a golden line in the middle of the bracelet, reminiscent of racing stripes. The calling card, however, was the octagonal bezel on a circular dial.
