You’ve probably heard of ‘ghosting’, when someone suddenly ends a relationship and stops all forms of communication, and ‘gaslighting’, when one partner manipulates the other into questioning their own reality, usually to control them. But now, there is something else to watch out for quiet quitting. It’s a concept that started with a viral TikTok, in which the originator was disengaging at work, doing the bare minimum necessary to not get fired. Since then, it’s also been applied to personal relationships, describing someone leaving their partner silently, over an extended period of time, without officially breaking it off.
