It’s late summer and the morning sun is streaming through the Tipa trees that line one of the city’s prettiest streets. A couple of police officers are embracing each other good morning. A dog walker careens past with his nine charges.
This buzzy little corner of the Recoleta neighbourhood is dotted with galleries, design shops, cafés and a florist-cum-subterranean cocktail bar that wins all the awards. It is also the address of Art Deco masterpiece Casa Lucía, which opened its rather chic revolving doors in January. It is the latest offering from Único, an independent hotel collection by Barcelona hotelier Pau Guardans, and his first project outside Spain.
