Beyond The Headlines

The question ‘who is Tania Shroff?’ often pops up when people first hear her name. Before you ask if she’s related to the Tiger Shroff family—she’s not! Instead, Shroff is the quintessential Gen Z fashion “it” girl. Born and raised in Mumbai, she’s an influencer known for her versatility, seamlessly infusing every piece—from couture gowns and luxury handbags to edgy streetwear—with her unique flair. No wonder she has amassed over 410K followers. Her feed—a visual treat—is filled with exotic locations, runway-ready outfits, and adventures with her globetrotting dog, Bane.

Despite being uber popular and boasting a significant Instagram following, Shroff has an effortlessly cool, low-key vibe. Her interests extend beyond fashion—she’s a passionate traveller as well. Her Instagram bio links to her YouTube channel, where she shares travel videos from Dubai, Everest, and Barcelona. As I prepared for our interview, I was curious to meet the person behind this captivating image.

It’s a weekday just before Diwali, and we connect over Zoom. My first question is one I asked myself while preparing: how would Shroff describe herself, beyond what the tabloids report? She answers thoughtfully, “I wouldn’t put myself in a box. I love being creative—whether it’s photography, make-up, hair, anything. That’s what excites me.” She adds with a laugh that she’s always the “mom” of the group, protective of the people she loves. “I definitely have a maternal instinct. I want to take care of everyone—my friends and my family.”
