Set in feudal Japan of the 1600s, Shōgun (2024) is an original adaption of James Clavell's bestselling novel. The FX Original series, streaming in India on Disney+ Hotstar, follows the journey of a feudal lord, 'Yoshii Toranaga played by actor and producer Hiroyuki Sanada, a English pilot of a mysteriously marooned European ship, Jack Blackthorne'-played by actor Cosmo Jarvis and a Christian noble woman with disgraced family ties, 'Toda Mariko-played by actor Anna Sawai. The limited series created by Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks depicts the power struggles faced by these three characters amidst the fraught political landscape of the country.
