Actually achievable SUMMER FITTNESS GOALS

FORGET A MARATHON - TRY THESE MORE REALISTIC GOALS INSTEAD

Whether it's W the warmer temperatures or the longer daylight hours, summer has a way of firing us up to shape up. The trouble is, when starting a new exercise regimen, people tend to bite off more than they can chew - then end up quitting when it all becomes too hard.

To set goals that you actually keep this summe and well into the new yea you need to make them achievable and sustainable We asked accredited - exercise physiologist Amy Harding to talk us through four exercise goals worth aiming for.

GOAL

Walking 10,000 steps a day

WHY: Walking is a great way to improve your heart health, reduce body fat and strengthen your bones. Best of all, it's easy to get started.

HOW: Get a pedometer and break your goal into smaller steps (pun intended). "Start with 2000 steps a day and build from there, adding about 10 per cent per week to the goal," recommends Amy.
