WHAT REALLY WENT ON BEHIND THE SCENES ON THE ROM-COM CLASSIC!
Four weddings, one funeral

Is it still raining? I hadn’t noticed...”. Can you believe it’s been 30 years since a soaking wet Andie MacDowell delivered that iconic, albeit very cheesy, line to Hugh Grant in Four Weddings and a Funeral?

For those still yet to enjoy the quintessentially British romantic comedy, it follows a group of friends navigating their relationships while attending the events of the title.

In honour of the milestone anniversary, here’s six things you may not know about the much-loved movie...

1 Third time lucky!

Central to the movie is the will-they-or-won’tthey storyline between Hugh and Andie’s characters Charles and Carrie. But Andie’s part originally belonged to another American actress – Jeanne Tripplehorn! After she dropped out, it was offered to Marisa Tomei.

When Andie eventually signed on, she opted to take percentage points over an upfront fee. It was an astute move that ultimately netted her around $4.6 million!

2 Low budget, high profit
