In the early 1900s, Linda Laura Hazzard claimed she could cure any ailment with her regimented starvation regimens including fasting, pummelling and even hourslong enemas.

While people willingly paid for a malnourished makeover, Hazzard, answering to the nickname the ‘Starvation Doctor’, was killing her patients instead of curing them.
