A moment of glitz, glam and grandeur best describes the nearly two-week long 2022 Cannes Film Festival, held in France from 17 to 28 May, as both the prestigious festival and long-time off icial partner Chopard celebrate momentous milestones this year. Apart from its 75th edition being the former’s cause for celebration, it also joins the latter in celebrating their 25th year of partnership. In commemoration of these joyous occasions, Chopard creates a special diamond-studded Palme d’Or and presents a selection of 75 Haute Joaillerie pieces inspired by movies from the past. The theme “Chopard Loves Cinema” runs through all the maison’s activities during the festival, including the Chopard Rooftop atop the Hôtel Martinez – a luxuriant setting where Caroline Scheufele, Co-President and Artistic Director of Chopard, welcomes her esteemed guests.
PALME D’OR
It was in 1997 that Caroline Scheufele met with then Festival President Pierre Viot and left the meeting carrying a Palme d’Or to be reinvented. Since Chopard’s involvement, a few special iterations have been created, such as the Cannes’ 70th anniversary Palme d’Or that featured stem and foliage studded with a shower of diamonds and the 2014 Palme d’Or that set record as the festival’s and the world’s first film trophy to be made of Fairmined-certified ethical gold. Fast forward to 2022, Scheufele unveils a one-of-a-kind version of the trophy to commemorate the aforementioned double jubilee.
