It’s hard to imagine Ewan Gunn, whose name is synonymous with Scotch whisky, sipping on anything but the spirit he has been representing for nearly two decades. But he admits that he is partial to the occasional pint of beer and a few tequilas. This year marks his 12th working for Diageo and his third as the brand’s Senior Global Brand Ambassador, having taken up the mantle in 2020. Gunn recently visited Kuala Lumpur for a Mortlach mentoring session. Dubbed “whisky’s best kept secret”, Mortlach is a whisky often ordered by those in the know and thanks to its unique 2.81 distillation process, it is “as bold as you can go before taking the step into smoky territory,” as Gunn puts it.
