The American Ballet Theater Gala made its anticipated seasonal return to Lincoln Center for its annual Fall Season at the David Koch Center. Susan Jaffe, the company's artistic director, delighted the audience with a magnificent show. The company chose to spotlight the importance of the dancers' journey by featuring their skills at every level.
Before the programme began, Jaffe, who is a former principal dancer with the company for 22 years, took a moment to thank the gala honourees: journalist Katie Couric for her dedication to creativity and her generosity to ABT for many years and The Shubert Foundation (the nation's largest funder of unrestricted grants to not-for-profit dance and theatre companies) for its unwavering commitment to supporting live performing arts in the US.
