Jewellery and art intersect in many intricate ways. At his renowned atelier, Switzerland-born designer Hans Brumann just happens to create both. “My personal style originates from my professional education as a goldsmith while attending classes at art schools in Zurich and later, a one-year course in a trade school in Germany,” he shares. From then on, his distinctive flair and craftsmanship resulted in the sculptural creations of his eponymous label, which he established in 1978 after moving to the Philippines.
Through the years, the brand attracted a loyal and judicious following, frequently spanning generations of families who have passed their jewellery down the line. “I always want to make timeless pieces that last a lifetime,” Brumann says of his ethos. “I have over the years developed so-called aficionados who follow my collections every year and buy the best pieces. As much as I delight in my work, I love hearing stories from my clients about how their Hans Brumann pieces were recognised and adored.”
