FALLING FOR love

In my early 20s, I got messed around pretty badly by some lousy guys.

Enough's enough, I thought after being two-timed again.

Not wanting to risk more heartache, I became a bit hostile to every man I met.

Then I met Jason at a party. He was smart, kind and funny.

'Would you like to go out for dinner?' he asked.

'Okay,' I agreed.

We had a great time, but I kept him at arm's length, even brushing him off when he tried to kiss me goodnight.

Nevertheless, we began dating. It was lovely but I still kept my barrier up.

After a few weeks, Jason said with a sigh, 'I'm obviously not the one for you. It's best we end it.'

'Sure,' I shrugged, but inside I was heartbroken.

Why had I sabotaged the best thing I ever had?

I knew I'd never meet anyone as wonderful again.

A year passed, and I thought about Jason all the time. Then one day I saw him at the shops! I had to do something - but what?

If I just ambled over to say hello, I doubted he'd give me the time of day.
