Fertility is in the spotlight, especially with Singapore’s total fertility rate dropping below one for the first time. But that’s not why Anna Haotanto built Zora Health. Another startup wasn’t part of the plan. After two decades of scaling companies and leading investments, she was ready for a break. The former managing director of ABZD Capital and co-founder of The New Savvy had built a career on sharp business instincts and an eye for underserved markets. But when she stepped down from her leadership roles, she wasn’t looking to start something new — until life intervened.
A personal essay she wrote about egg freezing when she was 34 ignited a response she never expected. “I received over 200 messages in my inbox when I posted about it on Instagram. More than 80 women reached out — many of them strangers. They wanted guidance, reassurance, and information,” she says. “It was overwhelming but also deeply humbling.” That flood of outreach exposed a glaring need in the fertility space — one Haotanto, now 40, couldn’t ignore.
