Unlike the Game of Thrones, where characters' maturations were in line with the actors portraying them, House of Dragon accelerates the maturity of two key characters, whereby requiring the replacement of the actors very early in the series. Milly Alcock, who portrays the Young Princess Rhaenyra, departs the series after episode 5. In future episodes, Emma D’Arcy portrays an older Princess Rhaenyra. Emma has large shoes to fill as Milly quickly made Princess Rhaenyra one of the most impressive television female characters this decade. We were ready to tell Beth from Yellowstone to move over. There is a new Queen Bitch on the throne. Then Dragon writers cast Milley onto the scrap heap. For shame, for shame; to borrow a line or word from the original Game of Thrones series.
