<p>Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth's history. Set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien&rsquo;s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings (LOTR), it takes viewers back to an era in which great powers&nbsp;were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien&rsquo;s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.</p>

<p>The kingdoms alluded to in the Studio Synopsis appear to center on Middle-earth&rsquo;s Southlands, the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, and the breathtaking island kingdom of N&uacute;menor. The most impressive characters thus far, in our eyes, are the elf warrior Galadriel and Queen Regent M&iacute;riel. Episodes are deep in character development. Perhaps necessary for the long-term viability of the series, but it is a heavy ball and chains dragging on-the-series attraction to viewers outside of LOTR fandom. In our opinion, the character development could have been equally attained with the usage of flashbacks, as HBO undertook in its&rsquo; series &lsquo;Winning Time.&rsquo;</p>
<p id="2">Galadriel has established herself as the most intriguing character of the series. Her gut tells her Orcs are forming in the Southlands and is desperate to quell their assembly before becoming an overwhelming threat to Middle-earth. Unfortunately, she has no support from her fellow elves or man until Queen Regent is delivered a sign. We anticipate the remainder of season 1 to focus on an impending conflict between the Orcs and the men of the kingdom of N&uacute;menor.</p>
