"Regular readers will know we don't usually write reviews in the first person. But given this was my own selection of model, colour, features and so on, for the Fender Mod Shop competition we ran in issue 493, I was never going to be dispassionate about it. I've therefore been given special dispensation this time.
"Fender's Mod Shop allows players to make online selections from a menu of options, including model (Strat, Tele, Jazzmaster, Jaguar), timbers, colour, pickups and hardware, plus neck shape and material. Fender then builds the guitar specially for you. It's a sort of scaled-down Custom Shop, if you like, and a whole lot more affordable. And I couldn't be more pleased.
