The first......Album that I fell in love with Jim: ""Ascendancy' by Trivium. Back in the day when albums cost £10 each, you'd get one album and listen to that for a month straight, then get another album a month later when you could afford to get another one. I'd heard 'Dying In Your Arms' and thought it was cool, so I asked my grandma to get me it for Christmas. On Christmas Day I unwrapped it, and she said, 'Why don't you stick it on for the family?' We've got quite a big family, so there were about 30 Catholics in the room who all listened to things like Madonna. The first song is a lovely orchestral pondering piece, and my grandma was like, 'This is lovely!' Then it goes straight into 'Rain', which is just insanely heavy riffs, and she was immediately like, 'I think we've had enough now'. I fell in love because it was the first time I had ever heard metal. I'd heard rock before, but the sheer aggression and power that was encapsulated within that album was something I'd never heard before."
