Philanthropy is both prayer and life mission for Ebix CEO Robin Raina
SONALI ACHARJEE
THE FOUNDATION OF GOOD CHEER

In 2003, Robin Raina was standing on the top floor of his office in Noida when he found he had tears in his eyes. All around the swanky office building of the $2.5 billion software and e-commerce solutions firm Ebix, of which he is the founder and CEO, he could see slums. His tears, though, were not because they existed, but because he was noticing them for the first time. “I felt I had become too lost in materialistic pursuits and lost my ability to see the underprivileged,” says Raina.

That epiphany was to turn the focus of the Indian-American business tycoon and fitness enthusiast towards charity. The list of his contributions is as long as it is diverse and innovative, be it adopting two tsunami-affected villages in Tamil Nadu, building a skill training centre for girls in Delhi, setting up a home for orphaned girl children in Mumbai or sponsoring ambulances in the NCR.
