Gaurav Mehta, the soft-spoken but self-assured Founder & CEO of Jaipur Watch Company (JWC), is a man to watch. Powered by a passion for watches which began in childhood his first watch was a Swatch which his mother bought him and he remembers the purchasing of it vividly-it has taken Mehta merely a decade to establish JWC as India's leading luxury watch micro brand.
It all began with the brand's signature Coin Watch, with dials fashioned out of vintage British India coins, followed by several interesting launches (like the handpainted Pichwai watches), culminating in fully customised, made-to-order watches, including in 18-carat gold.

Passage of Time
It's been an exhilarating ride for the self-taught Mehta but JWC shows no signs of slowing down. The latest in their series of launches is the limited-edition Raja Ravi Varma collection. The release is timed well, 2023 marking not only the 175th birth anniversary of Raja Ravi Varma but also the 10th anniversary of JWC. On a weekend in early August, watch lovers from across India descended on Jaipur's Jai Mahal Palace to witness a launch to remember. Jaipur's fine folk were also in attendance at the bespoke art-meets-luxury experience.
