LET’S talk about that sacred cow, democracy. It’s difficult to imagine how something so lauded by the West isn’t commonplace.
If something is so good, as clearly democracy must be, as it appears everywhere in defence of practically everything, then how come the whole of the Earth has yet to adopt it? Whenever considering something that is being proposed, if something is truly good for you, then you really don't need to ask twice, let alone use force.
The natural position is that rational people adopt the good and discard the bad. True power rests, after all, in each of us individually, and in our ability to persuade. And by persuasion, I do not mean employing the use of arms, just intellect in combination with evidence and fact.
Now, if Plato was concerned enough by what he perceived to be an inevitable march of democracy along the road to tyranny, then surely that alone is reason enough for us to reconsider democracy critically.
So to critique democracy at its heart, you only need to ask yourself one simple question: 'Can anyone tell me what to do?' I would hope that that question brings forth a resounding 'No', as until you can get ahold of God and put Him in the court room, then no one can produce any evidence to support a claim of being an authority over anyone else (parent/ child relationship excepted).
