It left those behind the bid to rescue senior men's football with little time to waste but at least they could turn to Brown, a man who made more than 500 appearances for Coalville, captaining the side to the Midland Alliance title and in an FA Vase final appearance at Wembley in 2011.
He guided Lutterworth Athletic to safety in the United Counties League Division One last season - the league Coalville has been allocated to - and had planned more trips to Owen Street before a whirlwind couple of weeks.
