THERE'S not much time to savour a promotion when you are a football manager you can't miss a beat when it comes to preparing for the new season.
I'm really guilty of not enjoying it enough. As a player, when we won the title at Ilkeston in my first management job, and now, I always look at what's next and how we - or I can be better.
Here at Flint Town United we have a huge challenge ahead. It's one we're relishing after winning promotion to the JD Cymru Premier.
It's a big step at the best of times. Even more so after it quickly materialised we would be losing six players to the same team in the league below. All of a sudden it's a rebuild.
We're going up but we know our budget isn't. So we have to be clever with the way we work the market. It's easy to recruit when you've got money.
You can go and get the best players although you know they're not there for you but because you're paying well.
Luckily for me, I've got great contacts in England as well as Wales where I've been managing for two years - and it also helps us build the right way.
Flourish
