The Iron Trust successfully applied to its local authority, North Lincolnshire Council, to register the ground as an asset of community value (ACV) in 2021.
That call was made on the back of then-chairman Peter Swann’s company – Coolsilk Property & Investment Limited – taking ownership of the land from the club in exchange for more than £11 million worth of loans made during his tenure.
When granted, ACVs give communities the right to identify land or buildings that are believed to be integral to social wellbeing.
