The Nash finished seventh in the National League North season – a club record best-ever placing.
Defeat at Chorley in the play-off eliminator on penalties ultimately ended their campaign but player-boss Mahon couldn’t have been prouder.
But what’s done is done for the Irishman – he’s determined they build on it.
“Obviously you look back and learn a lot from last season – what the group achieved was monumental,” Mahon told The NLP.
“No one expected us to be there which, as I’ve said, played into our hands. We never put any pressure on to win. We just went out to play a game of football and enjoy it. They were fantastic.
“But, as we move onto the new season, some have moved on, we’ve got new players coming in and it’s now down to myself, the management staff and the players still here from last year to set the bar higher.
“We have to set new standards and try to replicate what we did last year.
“It was one of the most successful seasons for Curzon. Our plan is to recreate that or get as close to it as we possibly can.”
Signings like Isaac Buckley-Ricketts should only help with that ambition.
