After private and government hospitals in the city and other parts of Gujarat went on a two-day strike to protest the rape and murder of a Kolkata doctor, the number of emergencies handled by EMRI108 increased significantly as OPDS and planned surgeries got postponed.
According to Gujarat EMRI-108 management, they observed a surprising 25% increase in emergencies over the past two days. The average number of emergencies was higher in Ahmedabad compared to the rest of Gujarat during this period.
Data shows that Ahmedabad recorded 866 emergencies on August 15,which jumped to 1,018 on August 16 and slightly decreased to 946 on August 17. Across Gujarat, there were 4,341 emergencies on August 15, which rose to 4,862 on August 16 and 4,741 on August 17.
