Officials of the crime branch on Thursday arrested eight persons accused of involvement in a violent group clash that resulted in the death of one person in Chandkheda a day earlier. A clash took place near the Sahajanand Park Complex on Motera Stadium Road between two groups from the same community.The arrested accused, all from Mahakali Nagar in Motera, have been identified as Hansa alias Hasmukh (33), Vishnu (29), Moti (38), Kamlesh alias Rakesh (26), Ranjit alias Gotli (24), Ramesh alias Kalu (34), Pavan (20) and Arvind (19). Most of them are truck and tractor drivers.The dispute reportedly began after a video showing women from the Vanjara community carrying out cleaning work went viral on social media. A claim made in a WhatsApp group that the women were from Memnagar sparked a heated argument. Tensions rose when members of both groups met in Chandkheda to resolve the issue, leading to a violent confrontation.One of the victims, Sardar Vanjara (41) from Kuber Nagar area, succumbed to his injuries. The others who were injured were identified as Sardarji Bhava Vanjara (48) from Odhav road in Nikol, Kalu Vanjara from Noble Nagar in Kotarpur and Kalu Vanjara from Nikol.The police have charged the eight accused under various sections of the BNS, including those related to assault, unlawful assembly and causing grievous harm.
