The three-day BRICS Educational Expedition (BEE), an initiative by and for BRICS nations, that began at the Gujarat University (GU) campus on Saturday saw the participation of nearly 100 shortlisted young candidates from across 20 cities of India.The BEE offers training and collaborative sessions aimed at creating a community of young leaders committed to promoting the values and principles of the BRICS association.The event, organised to foster cooperation is being held in collaboration with Project Office for International Youth Cooperation "Russia-BRICS", the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh), Russia, BRICS Youth Alliance India, GU and GUSEC.The inaugural session saw the presence of Gujarat University Vice Chancellor, Dr Neerja Gupta, Srinivasa Rao Sureddi, CEO of GUSEC, Madhish Parikh, Founding Director of the BRICS Youth Alliance and International BRICS Experts.Diana Kovela, Head of the BEE, who is in India for the event, said the idea of the expedition also found support during the recent BRICS Summit in Kazan. "The Kazan declaration signed by the heads of BRICS countries vowed to foster cooperation in the field of education. India is a signatory to the declaration. Since Russia currently has the BRICS presidency, we decided to provide the first opportunity to India for hosting the Education Expedition."
