With the holidays approaching, commuters from Ahmedabad are eager to escape on minivacations or return to their hometowns. However, the Diwali rush is forcing many to shell out extra for seats on private buses.
Luxury bus ticket prices have reportedly surged by 15-20% due to Diwali. Jayendra Bavaria, owner of Eagle Travel, explained, "Amid festivities, there is a rise of 15-20% in fares among reputable travel companies." Private luxury buses travelling from the CTM crossroads to Surat have also increased their fares.
Commuters on this route are now being charged Rs 700, around Rs 300 more than the usual rate.
Dhara Sharma, who has planned a trip from Ahmedabad to Udaipur after Diwali, shared her experience.
