Delivery of babies by C-sections to surge by 40% today which marks birth of Lord Krishna; doctors also ascribe rise in number of C-sections to average age of mothers rising to 35 in a decade

In Ahmedabad, where approximately 300 babies are born each day, today marks a unique convergence of tradition and modernity. Janmashtami, celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna, has inspired many couples to plan the arrival of their newborns to coincide with this sacred day.

Whether through scheduled C-sections or normal deliveries, the desire to align a child's birth with Krishna's birth has led to a noticeable surge in such procedures.

Dr Nita Thakre, President-Elect of the Ahmedabad Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society (AOGS), confirmed the trend saying, "We have seen a 30 to 40 percent rise in planned deliveries on Janmashtami."
