2.6-inch rainfall in 3 hours causes traffic jams on key roads; Umarpada in South Gujarat gets 14-inch rainfall in 4 hours
City inundated after 3-hr rains

Just three hours of heavy rains on Monday exposed the poor storm water disposal system of the city, causing water-logging in many areas and causing traffic jams like every year. City received up to 2.6 inch rainfall between 4 pm and 7 pm. The North zone received 2.25inch rainfall, followed by 2 inches in the Central and Western Zones of the city. Bapunagar, Ghatlodia, Gota, Ashram Road and Saraspur reported heavy water-logging, affecting traffic.

Mithakali underpass was closed as a precautionary measure. Treefelling cases were reported from 10 locations, creating difficulties for motorists.

Memco and Maninagar received 2.6-inch rainfall, followed by 2.3inch in Ranip, 2.2-inch in Kotarpur and 2.1-inch each in Astodia, Vasna and Odhav.
